The Criterion Collection: All About Eve

ALL ABOUT EVE is a true jewel in the crown of American Cinema history and the most awarded, making this a particular honor to be asked to tackle. Fir this project, they had in mind a very particular idea and purpose, but as per past gigs let me run a bit amok to see if there wasn't;t another way forward. I'm often given such license in particular with the interior art. I try to format the pieces with the idea in mind of the usual dvd/blu-ray jacket shapes, but really my AD, Eric Skillman, can and does run wild with his own design uses even extending some of these onto the disc itself, on-screen menu option and more. It's always a great surprise to see what he does with the work I toss at him, and working together to tweak and finalize in partnership is what makes these sing so well.

Because this was such a high profile gig for us all,

there was a tremendous amount of scrutiny every step of the way. Typical when there's a big project to have the upper echelons of the publisher oversee a project, and the price you pay for the opportunity. With lesser known properties there's much more free reign and simple back and forth with the AD, but in this case they came in with a very detailed and specific brief, and while we tried it on the start, it just never seemed to land. We eventually came to the final cover concept as a result of a lot of work back and forth. The interior work was largely free flowing although there were some last minute changes made.
